MENTAL HEALTH AT WORK

This course is designed for individuals across a wide range of professional backgrounds, organisations and sectors seeking to develop the knowledge and confidence to support mental health in the workplace. Participants will gain essential insights and practical skills to recognise signs of mental health difficulties, respond appropriately to colleagues experiencing emotional distress and provide effective initial support, and helping to promote early intervention.

Description

This interactive course explores the principles of Mental Health First Aid and their practical application within workplace environments. Participants will examine common mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout and emotional distress, while recognising how workplace pressures, organisational change, interpersonal relationships and personal circumstances can influence psychological wellbeing.

The course considers early warning signs, supportive communication, professional boundaries, confidentiality and the importance of recognising situations that may require urgent intervention. Through self-reflection, practical exercises, group discussions and realistic workplace scenarios, participants will develop the confidence to approach colleagues sensitively, provide appropriate initial support, respond to potential mental health crises and signpost individuals towards relevant professional services while recognising the limits of their own responsibilities.
