MANAGING BOUNDARIES
Managing professional boundaries is crucial for anyone who lives on onsite on a study abroad program. Onsite live in staff are in a position of trust; they provide support, guidance and at times are required to be a disciplinarian. Living on site and sharing facilities means that lines may be harder to manage. This course will give staff the confidence to manage their boundaries.
Description
This course will enable staff to define professional boundaries and identify how these translate into practice. Staff will be able to distinguish between clear and unclear boundaries and identify the importance of following professional codes of conduct. Learners will also be able to identify and deal with risk factors and how to deal with breaches in boundaries.

The aim of this workshop is to gain an understanding of boundaries and how to maintain them. The key points covered in this course are:
1. Definition of professional boundaries and responsibilities
2. Why professional boundaries are important.
3. Identifying and dealing with risk factors and boundary concerns.
4. Recognising and reporting breaches of professional boundaries.
